The three fillies pranced into the mostly empty party and took in their surroundings. Scootaloo made her way in front of her friends and turned around to question them.
"Alright girls…wow the mask really does change your voice…. Anyways, what’s the plan for tonight?"
"Ah dunno. We’re still early so there’s hardly anyone around yet." said Apple Bloom.
"Let’s just stick together until the hall starts filling up, then do what Rarity said." Sweetie Belle chimed in.
Rarity and her entourage entered into the party and journeyed off to the foals side. Before the girls could enter Rarity blocked their progress.
"Now remember girls, the whole point of the party is to not reveal your identity. So I want you to do me a favor and, for once, not be around each other for the night. This is an opportunity to experience new things and ponies, so please heed my advice."
The three fillies sounded off in annoyed acceptance with not one looking towards Rarity. The unicorn let out a sigh and bid her farewell before heading off to the adult’s side of the party.
Time passed by and finally the big night had arrived. Ponies from all over Equestria gathered in Canterlot to join the masquerade. Dressed in all sorts of garb, from elegant dresses and suits to wild colorful outfits the ponies wandered the streets collecting at the Jeweled hall. Among those revelers just so happened to be a unicorn dragging along three young fillies…
Sweetie Belle’s voice rings out in a high pitched squeal as she buries her head into Scootaloo’s neck.
"Yay! Thankyouthankyouthankyou! I’ll have Rarity design us something to wear and you’ll see, it’ll be the best night ever!" Sweetie Belle proclaimed.
"Yeah, yeah…." Scootaloo mumbled under her breath.
Sweetie Belle, determined to have her best friends join her, pulled out her trump card and aimed it directly at Scootaloo. Giving her best sad pout she let out a few sad whimpers as Scootaloo thought the invitation over in her mind.
"Fine, I’ll go." said Scootaloo.
"Not like anyone can say no when she makes that face…" thought Scoots.
"Well it sounds like fun so ahm going." said Apple Bloom.
"You’re coming too, right Scootaloo?" questioned Sweetie Belle, presenting her best smile towards her.
"Sounds boring being stuck with the high class ponies that are all over Canterlot." Scootaloo snarkily replied.
"Don’t worry, citizens from all over Equestria come to this party. So what do you say?" Sweetie Belle responded.
"I dunno…" Scootaloo said as she let out a sigh.
"It’s only the 2nd biggest party besides the Grand Galloping Gala. Everypony comes in colorful costumes and wears special masks that alter their voices. You’re supposed to mingle with all sorts of ponies and once midnight strikes you take off your mask and finally be able to see who you’ve been partying with all night." said Sweetie Belle.
"Rarity got an invitation to the Canterlot Masked Ball!" said Sweetie Belle.
"So…wah are you excited Sweetie Belle?” asked Apple Bloom.
"Because we can go as well as part of the invitation!" exclaimed Sweetie Belle.
"What’s so special about this thing anyway?" muttered Scootaloo.
Sweetie Belle bounded through the club house and placed herself in-between her two bestest friends before locking them close to her in her hooves.
"So what’s all this about Sweetie Belle?" questioned Apple Bloom.
"Rarity just gave me some great news guys!" said Sweetie Belle.
"Can you let me go first before you tell us what your sister said? You’re crushing my spine." groaned Scootaloo.
